New faces sought by community councils amid fears they could fold
TWO Ross-shire community councils are on the lookout for new members – amid fears they could fold if people do not step forward.
Nominations are being invited from people seeking election to the Marybank, Scatwell and Strathconon Community Council and the Stromeferry and Achmore Community Council.
The voluntary bodies express the views and concerns of local people across a range of issues from new buildings and roads to services and facilities.
But recent resignations have taken both groups below the minimum 50 per cent membership required to remain quorate.
To stand for election candidates must be on the electoral register for the relevant area. The deadline for nominations is 4pm next Wednesday. For details visit www.highland.gov.uk/elections or call 01349 886657.
