New wheels for Black Isle mountain biker
BLACK Isle mountain bike racer Greg Williamson is sitting pretty and looking forward to a new Mini adventure after securing a new year-long sponsorship deal.
Greg Williamson, who has been British downhill champion for the past two years, has received the keys of a Mini Countryman SUV from city car dealer Harry Fairbairn.
He reckons the partnership and use of the Countryman SUV fits well with both his career as a professional athlete and his lifestyle.
"The car is very versatile with plenty of room in the boot for gear as well as on the roof for mountain bikes," he said.
"Surfboards, roof boxes or kayaks would be equally at home there.
"I also find the car’s off-road ability a real bonus, especially with the recent weather we’ve been having.
"The Countryman gets me further into the wilder parts of our beautiful Highland landscapes than a van or standard vehicle ever could.
"It makes the experience even more memorable and fun.
"It’s also the only car I know that has an optional two seats outside the car which makes changing in and out of outdoor shoes a breeze."
Allan Smith, sales manager at Harry Fairbairn Inverness, said: "We were looking for a local connection, that customers could really relate to in terms of the Countryman’s sense of adventure and its ability to rise to the task as a fantastic weekend getaway car.
"And Greg was the perfect choice.
"The Countryman encourages people to expand their horizons and reconnect with nature.
"It comes with a four-wheel drive option but after the weekend adventures are over, it’s equally at home in the town".
