A NEW Ullapool shop has opened after months of hard work to refurbish the empty premises in a prime location in the Wester Ross village.

After almost ten years of Ceàrd, the local arts shop felt it was in need of more space, with the local business moving to the former Bank of Scotland building on 30 West Argyle Street. As well as this, the shop also changed its name to Havørn — meaning ‘sea eagle’ in Norwegian, to “pay homage” to Ullapool’s Viking roots, the Lochbroom sea eagles and to the owner’s time spent in Norway.

Havørn is set to offer a range of Scottish art and hand-crafted items, as well as showcasing the work of guest artists.

”Some galleries can be a bit intimidating, but we want our space to be warm and welcoming!”
