Shock as Ross-shire primary school tells parents it won't open as planned today
A NUMBER of parents were told last night that children can not attend school today as planned.
In what is being described as a 'blunder' by some parents, Highland Council has contacted parents by email to say a number of schools will not be open in the morning.
Wednesday should have been the first day back after schools broke up in March, due to the coronavirus lockdown.
It is understood that up to eight schools in the region might be affected.
Tore Primary School on the Black Isle wrote on its social media page: "Dear parents. Please can you check the email that you receive school communication from? Due to unfortunate circumstances outwith our control, we are unable to open the school on Wednesday August 12.
"The email details reasons with a letter from the chief executive. Please accept my sincere apologies for this late correspondence."
One parent said on Facebook: "My wee man went to bed expecting to start primary one tomorrow, and now he has not to go in at all. He will think I am joking. Ridiculous."
Another said: "How much did that head of education get paid? Was it £900 a day? Clearly more money down the drain."
