PICS: Alness is The Place to be for holiday fun
A local youth group laid on a feast of fun for children over the October holidays.
The Place went all out to entertain dozens of local youngsters from across the town with a series of events throughout the recent break.
On Wednesday last week, primary one to three age kids were treated to games, crafts and a hot meal at The Field – a space created by young people and community groups – with remaining meals distributed to youngsters elsewhere in the area.
The next day, young people from Milnafua were able to savour kitchen cooked meals, before The Place’s busy team concluded the week on Friday with some Halloween crafts and games for primary four to sevens at The Field, again with a hot meal to keep them fuelled.
“It has been busy and really rewarding,” Janette Douglas, The Place’s co-ordinator , said. “We were delighted to see so many of our young people coming along for a bit of fun and some good food too.”
Later events included talks by young people on issues they are passionate about, before wood fired pizza from an oven designed and created collaboratively with Growing Together and Feis Rois.
