PICTURES: Black Isle golf day tots up £17,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support
MORE than £17,000 has been chipped in to the fight against cancer thanks to golfers who took part in a charity event on the Black Isle last week.
The local branch of Macmillan Cancer Support totted up £17,130 after the proceeds of an auction, team entry fees, raffles and hole sponsorship were taken into account following the event hosted by Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club.
Fifteen teams turned out on Friday, many joining for the second year with a few newcomers.
Kitty McWilliam, a long serving member of the Macmillan fundraising group, set the event of with a blast from her air horn.
Teams were captained by Donnie Paterson, Philip Taylor and Bruce MacKay and were presented with their prizes by Annette McArthur.
Ann Hinton, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, gave a short insight into the charity’s work and recent changes since Covid.
Liam Christie led the auction with an array of generously gifted and much sought after items on offer.
The event was declared a great success with the fundraising group for the Black Isle and Inverness thanking everyone who made it possible – Caley Timber for covering the costs for staging the event; all businesses who donated prizes for the auction and raffle and Mike MacDonald and his team at the club.
