PICTURES: Dingwall tree-planting blitz hailed 'whopping success' as volunteers get stuck in

The first weekend of tree planting at the Dingwall Community Woodland was a whopping success!

Over 30 volunteers got stuck in over the two mornings, planting an incredible 1750 trees.

The group were treated with beautiful weather, homemade cakes and hot drinks in reward for their hard work.

Some planters joined from the town itself whilst others travelled from slightly further, including from Inverness and Fortrose. Volunteers ranged in age with the youngest just 4 months old, and the oldest 82 years.

Tree species planted included pedunculate oak, sessile oak, rowan, aspen and silver birch.

The steering group couldn’t have wished for a better first weekend and are looking forward to welcoming volunteer planters at future sessions pencilled in for January 21, 27, 28, and February 4, 10, 11, 18, 24 and 25.
