A Ross-shire care home has been making the most of the autumn heatwave by hosting an impromptu garden concert for residents and the local community.

Urray House care home seized the opportunity to bask in the unseasonably warm weather by hosting a 'Gig in the Garden' event, featuring local singer Margo Fraser.

The day started with a continental breakfast for residents followed in the afternoon by a barbecue serving hot dogs and burgers to gig-goers. The highlight of the day was a live performance from 2018 Ness Factor winner Margo Fraser who dropped everything to attend the event.

Behind the scenes, chef Thomas Neil cooked up a storm with a tasty selection of sandwiches and cakes for afternoon tea.

Urray House manager, Joe Greiner, said: “Due to the incredible weather we have had, I felt that we should make hay while the sun shines, as they say. So last minute, we called one of our regular entertainers, Margo Fraser, who is absolutely amazing and asked if she would be kind enough to entertain the residents for a Gig in the Garden.

"Then it was all hands-on deck to arrange the food for the following day, which was all rustled up by our Chef Thomas. I talked to the activities team, and they don't need an excuse for a party, so they were immediately on board. I think it's so important to be able to plan for the future but also just have fun at a moment's notice, as it helps to improve the lives of those in our care and hugely increases the fun factor. It was great to welcome relatives and our friends in the community.”
