THAT there was snow on the Ben today was never in doubt...

The white stuff was to be found in patches across Ross-shire with some heavy accumulations in the west of the county.

The white, glistening splendour of the iconic landmark that is Ben Wyvis proved a magnet for photographers from miles around with many training their lenses on the mountain.

There were snowball fights and sledging for some while others got out to enjoy walks in the countryside – the perfect post-Christmas antidote to a new near-lockdown that came into place on Boxing Day in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Weather experts are warning of more ice and snow across parts of Ross-shire and the wider northern Highlands tonight.
