Temporary closure of B9176 Struie route in Easter Ross for bridge and road safety inspection by Highland Council
THE temporary closure of an Easter Ross bridge to allow an inspection to go ahead safely will prompt a significant detour for motorists.
But the inspection on the B9176 Struie Road is only expcted to take two hours on the morning of Wednesday, September 14.
Highland Council is advising motorists that four bridge inspections will result in temporary road closures.
All necessary to allow for safe inspection of the bridges in the north area.
The affected roads and bridges being inspected are the:
- B9176 Struie Road from 9am to 11am on September 14.
- C1045 Shore Road, Lybster from 2pm to 4pm on September 14.
- C1113 Trantlemore - Strath Halladale - Upper Bighouse Road from 10am to 1pm on September 15.
- A838 Dionard Bridge, Durness from 3pm to 5pm on September 15.

The B9176 Struie Road, will be closed from its junction with A836 Dornoch Bridge – Bonar Bridge Road to its junction with U1878 Edderton – Mudh-A-Blair Road.
An alternative route will be available via the A836 Dornoch Bridge – Bonar Bridge Road and U1878 Edderton – Mudh-A-Blair Road.
The C1045 Shore Road, Lybster will be closed from its junction with C1045 Main Street to its termination, a distance of around 880 metres. No alternative route is available.
The C1113 Trantlemore - Strath Halladale - Upper Bighouse Road, closed from its northernmost junction with the A897 Helmsdale - Melvich Road to where it splits, a distance of around 285 metres. To avoid the road closure an alternative route will be available via the A897 Helmsdale - Melvich Road and a section of the C1113 Trantlemore - Strath Halladale - Upper Bighouse Road.
The A838 Dionard Bridge, Durness will be closed from 3pm to 5pm on September 15. No alternative route is provided.
Highland Council says the closures apply to all vehicles except those employed to carry out the bridge inspections and their associated traffic management. Emergency vehicles are exempt.
It said in a statement issued today: "The Highland Council apologises for any inconvenience cause by these necessary bridge inspections."
