SIX weeks on from the disappearance of an Easter Ross man, his family have thanked members of the public for their help – and acknowledged the most likely scenario for him to be found.

Shaun Banner (34) was last seen near Invergordon railway station on Saturday, April 23 just after midnight.

An item of footwear he is believed to have been wearing was found washed ashore at Nigg beach and searches have focused mainly on beaches and coastlines in the time since then.

His family today posted: "That’s us at six weeks now that Shaun has been missing.

"We have exhausted all of our efforts at this point and are being consistently told that if he is to be found that it’s likely to be someone who is out walking that’ll come across him.

"This just highlights the importance of being out and being vigilant when searching the shorelines and beaches.

"Please continue to do what you can and know that we appreciate you all giving up your time to search for Shaun and if you are please fire me a message or pop a post up on the page."

A dedicated Search for Shaun Facebook page has been set up to help coordinate details of where people have looked, many while out on walks.

His family added: "Let’s get him home! Please continue to share.

"It’s important that people know Shaun still isn’t home yet so searches can continue."
