Plockton’s Big Summer Jewellery show is set to be a real dazzler!
Plockton is about to get its annual design and jewellery exhibition.
Organised by local artist Gilly Langton, The Big Summer Jewellery Show will take place at Plockton Village Hall from July 16 - 25 from 11am to 6pm.
Each year Gilly draws on the inspiration of Plockton to design and make jewellery to present to visitors and the wider community.
Visitors can expect to see her one-of-a-kind elaborate neckpieces, sterling silver and gold minimal bangles, necklaces, earrings and rings, alongside her bold colourful string necklaces.
People will get the opportunity to delve into Gilly’s creative practise by flicking through sketchbooks, mood boards and sample boxes, to imagine the craftsperson and the inspiration that the Highlands holds for her and many other makers.
Gilly said: “Each year I enjoy the breadth of international visitors from all over the world that buy a piece of jewellery, as a memento of their Highland visit. Knowing that my pieces are worn all over the world yet made in this little village is really special.
“Last year’s event was so wonderful as it was the first year after covid where visitors felt free to explore the Highlands again, so I have high hopes for 2024’s show, kicking off with a lively Private View on Monday night, it’s really magical to see so many lovely people wearing my jewels.”
