‘Wild ride’ cinematic rollercoaster in store at Eden Court as classic roster unveiled
MOVIE buff action fans are being invited to strap in for a three-month cinematic rollercoaster at the Highlands’ main arts venue.
Eden Court’s Wild Ride: The Evolution of Action showcases a line-up of iconic films spanning swashbuckling epics, adrenaline-fueled adventures and timeless martial arts classics.
Running from October to December, the curated selection brings together legendary films from Hollywood and beyond, promising an action-packed cinematic experience for fans of all ages.

Beloved classics, daring heists, explosive chases, and a deep dive into action film history are on offer into the winter.
Predator (1987) - Arnold Schwarzenegger faces off against an otherworldly hunter in the jungle in this iconic action thriller. (Friday, October 18)
Hollywood Bulldogs (2021) - A documentary tribute to the fearless British stuntmen who powered some of Hollywood’s biggest action films. (Saturday, October 20)
Destroy All Monsters (1968) - Kaiju lovers rejoice! Godzilla and his fellow monsters must save the world from extra-terrestrial invaders in this cult classic, introduced by kaiju cinema expert Steven Sloss. (Saturday, October 26)

Yes, Madam! (1985) - Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock redefine action cinema with their gravity-defying stunts and martial arts prowess in this Hong Kong action classic. (Saturday, November 9)
Run Lola Run! (1998) - A race against time pushes the boundaries of action and tension in this groundbreaking German film by Tom Tykwer. (Monday, November 11)
Point Break (1991) - Surfers, robbers and undercover agents collide in Kathryn Bigelow’s genre-defining 90s cult classic, rarely seen on the big screen for many years and restored in 4K. (November 15 to 17)
Speed (1994) - Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock must keep a bus moving above 50 mph in this pulse-pounding thriller that redefined 90s action films. (Saturday, November 16)

Police Story (1985) - Jackie Chan’s blend of death-defying stunts and slapstick humour revolutionised martial arts cinema. (Saturday, December 7)

Mystery Action Movie - To round off the season, we’ll be showing a surprise action classic (Sunday, December 29).
Paul MacDonald-Taylor, Inverness Film Festival director and head of film + visual art at Eden Court, said: “The cinema is the best place to watch films. The cinema is the ONLY way to really see action films.
“You can watch action films at home, but you can’t really see them there. There’s a difference. Just because you’re watching action films doesn’t mean you’re seeing them. Come to Eden Court over October to December to see some real action, where it thrives, on the big screen!”
