Alness burst water pipe repairs to cause disruption for traffic in street in Easter Ross town, warns Scottish Water
Traffic on an Alness road faces disruption on Sunday after a burst water pipe hit supplies to some residents in the town on Sunday.
Scottish Water, in an update at 6.45am on Sunday morning, said it had identified the location of the fault but warned motorists and residents that there will be disruption in Perrins Road while repairs are carried out.
A spokesperson said: “We have identified the cause of the interruption to water supply affecting customers in Alness and are currently arranging the repair to return supplies to normal.
This has been located on Perrins Road, and may cause some traffic disruption whilst we carry out repairs.
“An estimated repair time will be provided once the repair is underway.”

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the Highland water network, residents in part of Inverness were being warned that they could “experience further interruption” to their supplies on Sunday while follow-up repairs are made after an earlier burst main.
Some residents living in IV3 and IV5 postcodes in the city suffered water outages on Saturday after an eight inch water main ruptured in Englishton Muir.
Engineers worked throughout the night to restore supplies to a “small number of customers in this area” who experienced no water or low pressure.
But during the repairs workers “identified an additional fault on one of our valves within the same part of the water network” and follow-up works are planned for Sunday afternoon to fix that.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “Our team have completed repairs on an 8” burst water main along Englishton Muir road throughout the night and supplies have restored after a small number of customers in this area experienced no water and low pressure.
“Customers in the IV3 and IV5 areas of Inverness may experience further interruption to their water supply today with an additional repair being required.
“Whilst carrying out last night's repair, we identified an additional fault on one of our valves within the same part of the water network. Plans are underway to begin a repair on this at around 12pm today with work continuing into the afternoon.
“The valve repair will be completed by 6pm this evening and water pressure will start increasing and return back to normal across this evening.
“We’d like to thank customers for their continued patience whilst works are underway. Our priority and commitment is to restore all water supplies back to normal as soon as possible for our customers.”
