Ross County assigns players to team up with Highland charities; Staggies set to provide a boost for Mikeysline, Archie Foundation, Maggies, Highland Hospice and Cash for Kids
Ross County is teaming up with five local charities this season to live up to its 'more than just a football club' motto.
MFR Cash for Kids, Mikeysline, Archie Foundation, Maggies and the Highland Hospice will each have a team of dedicated players focused on supporting each organisation for the upcoming campaign.
Steven Ferguson, CEO of Ross County said, “We have always acknowledged that our commitment isn’t just 90 minutes on the pitch it is always about what we can contribute to our community and our area. People sometimes forget that we cover such a big area that has so many different challenges and I think the 5 charities we are working with address a lot of the issues that are most prevalent.”
“As a club, we are delighted to be working with 5 organisations that play a big part across the Highlands but also have diverse messages and services that cover big demographic ranges and not one specific group of people. Through this we will help organisations who are dealing with mental health, pallative care, child poverty, sickness and cancer support. We did a lot of work with various organisations last season and this campaign is about taking it to another level.”
Each team has met with their charity to familiarise themselves with the organisation they will be working with and begin planning on some of the initiatives and events that the teams will be working alongside our partners on.
