GlenWyvis Distillery is launching the second round of The GoodWill Fund to benefit the local community.

The first funding round of £10,000 in the spring was a great success and is now helping local education, community groups and businesses in the area.

This round of The GoodWill Fund is the largest yet at £20,000 and launched on Monday. pplication forms are available via the GlenWyvis Distillery website.

The GoodWill Fund is administered by the GlenWyvis Distillery Community Benefit Society and is available for communities and organisations to apply for.

Applications are being accepted from Ross-shire communities and organisations for initiatives with educational, cultural or entrepreneurial benefits, as follows:

1 Educational: To support the learning needs of children in Ross-shire, who face additional barriers, by providing equipment that will enhance their learning and which they could not access otherwise. Awards of up to £400 can be given to educational initiatives.

2 Cultural: To provide education and information about the culture, history and society of Ross-shire. This is open to community groups for projects that provide engagement in these cultural facets. Awards of up to £2,500 can be given to cultural initiatives.

3 Entrepreneurial: To encourage economic activity in the IV postcode area and support the recovery or development of new or existing sustainable businesses which benefit the community. Grants will be awarded with the hope that these businesses will flourish in the future and will contribute to the GoodWill Fund.

Awards of up to a maximum of £5000 can be given to entrepreneurial initiatives.

All applications will be vetted objectively by the GoodWill Fund sub-committee with oversight and input from the board.

Dr Jock Ramsay, chair of The GoodWill Fund, said: “I would like thank all our wonderful staff, GlenWyvis members and volunteers for making this possible. GlenWyvis is still the only community benefit distillery in Scotland. We are committed to supporting the local community and are very proud to have won the Highland Business Award for Community Engagement this year.

“We will be promoting the GoodWill Fund to schools, community groups and businesses in Ross-shire (postcodes IV6, IV7, IV14, IV15 and IV16). I would encourage anyone interested to get their applications in before the closing date.”

He said: “Sales of our GlenWyvis four-year-old 2019 single malt whisky are going fairly well so we are now building up the GoodWill Fund for next year, and the upcoming share offer will allow the board to develop the business while we continue to supporting the community."

Any individuals, organisations or businesses interested in applying for the GoodWill Fund can do so by filling in an application form by November 24.
