A DINGWALL-based MSP is on the hunt for a local hero from her constituency to take part in the Scottish Parliament’s opening ceremony.

Newly elected MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, Kate Forbes, is looking for nominations to help recognise the important work local people do to help others and their community.

On Saturday, July 2, Local Heroes will go to Holyrood as part of the Scottish Parliament’s opening ceremony to mark the start of a new parliamentary session. Local Heroes will take part in the procession down Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, along with around 2000 other participants.

Launching the search for a Local Hero, Ms Forbes said: “I know many people in Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch give their time and energy selflessly, to make a positive contribution to the lives of others – often without recognition.

"I would love to be able to invite one of these unsung heroes to Holyrood as a sign of gratitude for all the work that they do to inspire and help others.”

• To nominate a Local Hero, contact Kate Forbes by email at kate.forbes.msp@parliament.scot, by calling 01349 864 701 or in writing to Thorfin House, Bridgend Business Park, Dingwall, IV15 9LS.
