Cromarty Firth ward by-election details revealed by Highland Council after resignations





THE date for a by-election to replace two Ross-shire councillors who have quit their positions has been confirmed.

The election of two councillors to represent Cromarty Firth will take place on Thursday, September 26 if the positions are contested.

The by-election is being held following the resignation of councillors Pauline Munro (Highland Independent) and Molly Nolan (Scottish Liberal Democrats).

The Notice of Election and timetable for these elections will be published on Monday, August 19 at www.highland.gov.uk/byelection.

Prospective candidates will have until 4pm on Monday, August 26 to submit their completed nomination forms.

If the seats are contested, the polls will take place on Thursday, September 26 with an electronic count taking place the following day.

Anyone over 16 years old who is living in Ward 6 is eligible to vote if they are registered. To register to vote visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Alternatively, call the Electoral Registration Office on 0800 393783 to request a paper application form.

The last date to register to vote in this by-election is midnight on Tuesday, September 10.
