The home has successfully recruited to a number of positions to support residents to be admitted into the home.

And members of the community are being invited to come along and visit the home ahead of an Open Day on Wednesday, April 9.

Kevin MacIver, manager at Strathburn House, said: “We are delighted to confirm that the care home will re-open in late spring.

“This is the culmination of a lot of hard work behind the scenes from a number of people and I want to thank them for their efforts in supporting this vital resource to remain at the heart of the community.

“We are opening the doors for members of the community to pop in and have a chat with staff between 10am-4pm between Monday, April 7 and Friday, April 11. There is no need for an appointment; we look forward to welcoming you to Strathburn House.”

Strathburn House temporarily closed in July 2024, due to “ongoing recruitment challenges and concerns around resident safety,” according to NHS Highland. The “difficult decision” to impose an emergency short-term suspension of service was met with immediate concern from the local community.

NHS Highland and Highland Council said at the time they had been exploring alternative options and agreed “that this course of action is necessary in the circumstances”.

NHS Highland staff supported residents and their families to identify appropriate new placements for the seven residents in the care home at the time.

It was described at the time as “an extremely difficult decision” but also “the safest outcome for the residents of Strathburn House”.
