Cubs, scouts and beavers on Black Isle help create a magical festive experience for Eilean Dubh care home residents

A VERY special festive gathering which brought together several generations of a Black Isle community is set to become an annual tradition after being voted a tremendous success.

And the difference a year can make was felt by everyone involved in the joyous occasion at a care home on the peninsula.

Chanonry Cubs, Scouts and Beavers (11th Ross, Skye & Lochalsh Chanonry Scout Group) made their way to the Eilean Dubh care home in Fortrose to sing carols to the residents there.

The gathering was well received by everyone involved.

Things had changed dramatically – for the better – with youngsters this year able to go inside the home.

Last year, with concerns about the coronavirus pandemic still casting a shadow over communities and curtailing normal activities, they did it outside in the garden.

This time around they sang classic carols and, by all accounts, the residents loved it. There were around 90 children singing last Friday and more than 50 adults. This will become an annual event as the residents love the children and they look forward to the singing.

The musicians were Aileen Fraser and Kenny Fraser.
