Wildflower quiz whets appetite for Black Isle Horticultural Society online fundraisers as coronavirus takes toll on events

A ROSS-SHIRE horticultural society has branched out online to entertain and test its members during the coronavirus crisis.

Black Isle Horticultural Society cancelled the plant sale and soup lunch it had planned for today because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

It says it will make a decision about its summer show, due to be held in August, next month and will do so in accordance with Scottish Government advice.

The group has joined a long list hit by the public health crisis and forced to cancel events.

The plant sale its major fundraising event each year.

Undaunted, the group instead "plans to hold some interesting and fun online gardening-related competitions" with modest entry fees and prizes, safely and in compliance with the current restrictions.

It says those those will start in a week or so. To whet the appetite, it has launched a just-for-fun wildflower quiz on its Facebook page.

It says: "No prizes or fee, but feel free to post how many you get and we’ll post the full set of correct answers shortly."
