Roads chiefs flag temporary closures in Ross-shire ahead of engineering work and Muir of Ord gala
IMPENDING temporary road closures in several parts of Ross-shire are being flagged in advance to try and minimise inconvenience.
The closures are required for work being carried out by Network Rail and British Telecom and also for Muir of Ord Gala.
To allow British Telecom engineers to work safely in an underground structure, all traffic, apart from emergency services, will be prohibited from a section of the U1891 Kildary to Brenachie Road from the entrance to the property know as Morven to a point north of the property known as White Lodge for a distance of around 200 metres.
This road closure will come into force at 9.30am on Monday, July 29 and will remain in effect until 3.30pm on Wednesday, July 31.
An alternative route will be available via the C1059 Pitmaduthie – Heathmount - Tain Road - U1885 Newfield Logie Road - A9 and will be signposted.
Pedestrian and emergency access will always be maintained, Highland Council said in a statement flagging the closures.
Muir of Ord Gala will also require a road closure of the A862 Ardullie - Dingwall - Beauly - Inverness road commencing at its junction with the A832 Cromarty - Fortrose - Tore - Muir - Ord - Moy Bridge road and extending southwards to its junction with the U3001 Tarradale Gardens, for approximately 450m from 6pm on Saturday, July 27 and will remain in force until 8.30pm on the same day.
Again pedestrian and emergency access will always be maintained.
An alternative route will be available via the B9169 Muir of Ord - Leanaig - Culbokie – Shoreton Road and the A832 Cromarty - Fortrose - Tore - Muir - Ord - Moy Bridge Road.
This will also be signed, says the local authority.
