Ross residents asked to share their vision of region in five years' time – and to tell Highland Council what it needs to prioritise in midst of financial crisis
ROSS-SHIRE residents are being asked to tell Highland Council about their priorities – and to share their vision of how the region could look five years from now.
The local authority's administration says it is keen to hear from communities across Highland as they develop priorities for the new council programme.
We are all in the midst of a financial crisis and know we will have a reducing budget over coming years; so it is even more important than ever to prioritise what we can do as a council to support resilient and sustainable Highland communities.- Raymond Bremner, council leader
Council leader Raymond Bremner said: “It is really important to hear what matters to local communities, whether it is about housing, rural transport, employment, energy or the local economy.
"We will be setting out our top priorities in December and reviewing these annually. I want us to be a listening council which reflects the important issues which matter to local people across Highland.
"We are all in the midst of a financial crisis and know we will have a reducing budget over coming years; so it is even more important than ever to prioritise what we can do as a council to support resilient and sustainable Highland communities.”
Members of the administration will also be at a number of locations over the next two weeks to chat about the issues which matter to local communities.
The survey seeks feedback on a number of priorities ranging from housing to renewabke energy and quality of life as well as inequalities in income, learning and wellbeing.
The online survey states: "We would like communities to help shape the council's new programme, ‘Our Future Highland’, by contributing your views, ideas, and dreams of how you think Highland should look and feel like by 2027.
"Please complete the survey...where you can add your ideas on how you envisage ‘Our Future Highland’ could look like by 2027."
Members of the public are invited to view the draft priorities and respond to a survey at: https://forms.office.com/r/zF0pnxkMWq
The survey is open until November 11.
