Easter Ross communities Nigg and Arabella pitch in to litter blitz
WHAT a load of rubbish!
But what great community spirit too.
A litter pick in the Nigg/Arabella area of Easter Ross, organised in the wake of a roadside rubbish campaign launched by Ross and Cromarty Lord-Lieutenant, Joanie Whiteford, amassed a massive pile of rubbish.
While Mrs Whitelaw described the amount of thoughtlessly discarded litter as “really disappointing”, she added: “On a positive note there is a real community appetite to keep our countryside tidy, and I have been heartened at the support for the campaign.”
Green's Restaurant supplied refreshments for the volunteers once the litter pick was complete and the waste management Dept of Highland Council provided equipment and uplifted the rubbish collected.

Said Mrs Whitelaw: “If we could encourage the minority of people who dispose of their litter irresponsibly, what a difference it would make.”
