Chair of Highland Council’s Gaelic Committee, Cllr Calum Munro, said: “Well done to Finlay.

“I am delighted that he has received the prize for the Senior Pupils Solo Singing competition which was sponsored by Highland Council.

“I hope that Finlay enjoys his prize recording session at Rosecroft Studio courtesy of Highland Council and that it inspires him to develop his interest and skills in Gaelic song and music further.”

Finlay was one of many pupils who took part in Dingwall Provincial Mòd from schools such as Dingwall, Tain, Ullapool, Gairloch and Inverness, and further afield, to compete together through Gaelic music and song.

Highland Council’s Gaelic Team have worked closely with An Comunn Gàidhealach and Meur Inbhir Pheofharain (Dingwall Local Branch of An Comunn Gàidhealach) to support the Dingwall Provincial Mòd which plays a part in the vital role in Scottish culture as a vibrant hub where Gaelic heritage thrives.

Local Mòds provide a platform for both junior and senior competitors to showcase their talents in various disciplines such as song, poetry, dance, and music, often serving as a stepping stone for the Royal National Mòd which takes place in October each year.

The council says its sponsorship of the Senior Pupils Solo Singing competition demonstrates its commitment to work with Gaelic organisations in promoting Scotland’s rich heritage and culture in ways which are both fun and accessible for all.
