10-year Urray House milestone marked in Muir of Ord





A ROSS-SHIRE care home marked a milestone with a special celebration.

Urray House Care Home in Muir of Ord marked its 10th anniversary with a lively celebration attended by residents, families, and members of the local community.

Purpose-built by Parklands Care Homes, Urray House opened in 2014, replacing the original local authority-run facility of the same name.

Initially, it had 34 beds and was later expanded to 40. The home was officially opened by the then Lord Lieutenant, Janet Bowen.

Families and local community members joined in the 10th anniversary celebrations over the weekend, including members of the original Friends of Urray House group.

Residents, including Donald Macaskill, who has lived at Urray House since it first opened, enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment from local artists Margo Fraser and Eric the Accordionist, along with the Urray House Community Choir, led by Graham Brown.

Manager Debbie Young said: “Celebrating this milestone with our residents, families, and local community has been truly special.

“Over the years, we’ve worked hard to make this a welcoming home at the heart of the local community, and it’s clear how much Urray House means to so many people.

“We’re grateful to be a part of such a supportive community and remain dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care for our residents in the years to come.”

She added: “I’m grateful to everyone who joined us for this special occasion, and to my superb team, including our senior activities coordinator Debbie Ironside who worked so hard to create a memorable event.”

Commenting on Facebook, Councillor Isabelle Mackenzie, a Highland Council Older People's Champion,wrote: “Superb event. What superstars you were at Urray House. A lovely musical event.”

Relative Mark Williams also took to Facebook, commenting: “Thank you to all the staff and everyone involved. A wonderful evening making memories with my mum.”

Urray House has been graded 5 (Very Good) by the Care Inspectorate for the quality of its care and support of residents’ wellbeing.
