FANCY ferrets and cute canines lit up an Easter Ross catwalk this week at a birthday bash with a twist.

Easter Ross Vets marked a milestone with a fashion and fund-raising event which thrust the spotlight on some of the cuddly creatures they care for.

Principal vet and joint owner Paco Morera explained: ""It has been ten years since my partner Abigail and I took over Easter Ross Vets and in that time we’ve loved seeing the practice go from strength to strength. Our friendly, caring team provide local expertise 24/7 for the pets and animals of the Highlands, and we feel truly part of the community here.

"We’ve made some great friends over the years and so we wanted to take the opportunity to throw a birthday party for the practice, raising funds for a cause close to our hearts at the same time. The team worked really hard to make the event a success so it was great to see so many people and pets attend. Here’s to the next ten years!"

Stars of the show included four-year-old ferret Taffy who melted hearts in his purpose-made kilt.

Taffy was described as "a bad biter" when he first came to Fyrish Ferret Rescue as a kit as he had not been handled before. Such was his transformation since that he has been promoted to becoming the public face of the group. He sported a hand-made McDonald tartan kilt and hand-knitted blue sweater.

Other highlights of the birthday party included face-painting and animal balloon making, first aid and grooming demonstrations and a chance for youngsters to meet ferrets and reptiles.

Proceeds of the event will be donated to the Munlochy Animal Aid centre.
