Tarradale benefits from 'nurture base' boost
Tarradale Primary in Muir of Ord is developing a specially equipped autism nurture base which will be open to all pupils.
It includes a range of suitable resources.
Head teacher Tracy Sinclair said: “We were approached early last year by Craig and Claire Noble, parents in our school whose child has a diagnosis of autism. They wanted to raise money for autism but were looking for who to donate to. With our PEF (Pupil Equity Fund) money from Scottish Government this session we were already creating an autism nurture base so that all children could access an extended curriculum suited to their needs.
Mr and Mrs Noble decided at this point to donate the money raised to help with this project.
“The £6000 raised has to this date bought a clevertouch TV for the Nook and Cranny, a range of resources to use with autistic children and the beginnings of a sensory room for children to relax in. It is really shaping up to be a very special space. The children are very excited to be able to come and use it.”
Talking of the level of support enjoyed by the school, she said: “We feel very lucky to be a part of the people of Muir of Ord.”
