ROSS County suffered a punishing 5-1 Irn Bru Division One defeat at Hamilton Accies on Saturday afternoon.

Following last weekend's 0-0 draw at home to Morton, the Staggies hit the road looking to get their first league win of the season.

However, a horror first half, in which defender Johnny Flynn was sent off for County at New Douglas Park, left them too much to do to recover.

Mark McLaughlin, who bagged a double against Ayr United on the opening day of the campaign, got Accies off and running with a goal on 23 minutes then 20-year-old hot-shot Ally Crawford made it 2-0 on 39 minutes.

Flynn's challenge in the box saw him red-carded just before the break and James Chambers made it 3-0 to the hosts.

The goals continued in the second half and on-loan Southend striker Matt Paterson put the game well out of County's reach with a fourth on 57 minutes.

Former Hibs starlet Kurtis Byrne finally got County on the scoresheet on 77 minutes, but Grant Anderson rounded off the scoring for Accies, who top the table as they bid to make a quickfire return to the SPL following their relegation last term.
