BELLADRUM 2015 opened last night with The Proclaimers attracting a huge crowd.

It is the first year the event has added an extra Thursday night headliner, plus support acts on the main stage, and the extended programme clearly went down well with festival goers.

The 12th annual Tartan Heart Festival, which this year has a superhero theme, will continue today (Friday) with Welsh band The Manic Street Preachers as the main act on the Garden Stage. The Kaiser Chiefs will top the bill tomorrow (Saturday).

There were delays gettting into the site on Thursday and Police Scotland is reminding motorists that there is likely to be increased traffic on the A862 Inverness to Beauly road throughout the weekend.

Crowds will continue to arrive at Belladrum today and tomorrow before leaving the event on Sunday.

Traffic management plans are in place and the police are urging road users to leave plenty of time for their journeys, remain patient and drive appropriately.

A police statement said: "Particularly at events such as Belladrum, where there may be people walking on the road leading to the entrance, police are advising motorists and motorcyclists to watch their speed and be aware that there may be pedestrians.

"When approaching the Belladrum site drivers are asked to be patient and follow the signs into the car parks and drop-off areas.

"There will be a high visibility police presence on the roads and motorists are reminded that if they are attending an event and intend to drink alcohol then they should make arrangements to be picked up or make use of local transport services such as the Belladrum Shuttle Service."
