SSEN says the storm has caused damage to its network with extreme winds, trees and debris all having an impact.
It has estimated a restoration time of 10pm and say that because of the extreme weather, it can be unsafe for engineers to assess damage or attempt repairs in some areas.
It says it will instead attempt to move the network around remotely to restore power to as many people as possible.
It’s advice to customers is: “The moment it’s safe to do so our engineers will be on the ground fixing the problem.”
