Hundreds hit by Edderton power cut as SSEN network slammed by Storm Éowyn





OVER 200 people in Easter Ross have been left without power in the wake of Storm Éowyn.

Scottish Southern and Electricity Networks says that the outage in the Edderton area was logged just before 6pm this evening.

It is affecting people living in the IV19 postcode area and is logged as “an unplanned outage”.

SSEN says the storm has caused damage to its network with extreme winds, trees and debris all having an impact.

It has estimated a restoration time of 10pm and say that because of the extreme weather, it can be unsafe for engineers to assess damage or attempt repairs in some areas.

It says it will instead attempt to move the network around remotely to restore power to as many people as possible.

It’s advice to customers is: “The moment it’s safe to do so our engineers will be on the ground fixing the problem.”
