Things to do in Ross-shire this weekend: 200th parkrun in Alness, a beautiful exhibition in Ullapool and music on the Black Isle
When it is Saltfishforty with Inverness singer-songwriter Dylan James Tierney together in a line-up for St Patrick's Day (Friday, March 17), it is more than possibly worth the gamble of heading for what might be an unfamiliar venue for some, as Resolis Memorial Hall stages this live music treat from 7pm. And organisers say please bring cash for tickets, they haven't got electronic payment there yet! Tickets £12, child £8. And contact Diana to reserve tickets at: gilbertdianaj@gmail.com
Ivan Drever is scheduled to play Ardross Hall tonight (Friday).
Alness Parkrun is marking its 200th event this Saturday (March 18) with a Traitors-style theme.
It's a nod to the hugely popular reality TV show filmed at Ardross Castle in which 'faithfuls' and 'traitors' vie for a prize pot through a game of murder (no one actually dies, you understand), intrigue and back-stabbing.
The parkrun starts in the Easter Ross town at 9.30am.
The event takes place at Crawl Park, High Street, Alness IV17 0QW.

A long-silenced Highland glen near Ullapool is being brought back to life by Ullapool Museum through a podcast series and now also a beautiful and thought-provoking exhibition at An Talla Solais.
Over the last three years the Lost Inverlael: A' Lorg Baile Bhlàir project has explored and uncovered the cleared townships of Inverlael and Balblair. This exhibition by photographer Jim Dunn captures the portraits of 25 descendants of these lost townships.
Entry is free but donations are always greatly appreciated.

The same venue will on Saturday host a Spring Artist & Makers Market.

And one for midweek...
Apollo’s Cabinet tell the story of an 18th century actress, at Cromarty Stables, 6pm on Wednesday, March 22. Their award-winning show A Star Is Born – The Making Of Kitty Clive is about the most famous singer-actress of the day, sought after by the managers of Drury Lane theatre. Composers such as Handel wrote arias specifically for her and she even collaborated with them on rewriting music to make it fit her style and persona, championing English musical theatre. She also advocated for women’s rights in and outside the playhouse throughout her career, defined her own image and even reimagined herself as the first female comedian. This programme of music follows her throughout her career, dramatising events in her life, some true to life and others with a pinch of creative freedom. Described as where "Baroque meets Bridgerton”, this programme is semi-staged. Tickets £14, concessions £12, under 18 free.
