‘Thoughts and prayers’ to family of woman (23) who died in Ross-shire beauty spot incident
A ROSS-SHIRE mountain rescue team amongst a massive emergency services response to a tragic weekend incident has sent “thoughts and prayers” to the family of a woman who died.
As previously reported, a 23-year-old woman died after falling into the water at Rogie Falls on Saturday afternoon.
Police, who have not released the name of the woman, say there are no suspicious circumstances and that a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team was amongst a huge response to the incident, with emergency services’ personnel rallying in the car park next to the popular beauty spot near Garve.
The team shared its condolences today in the wake of the incident.
It said: “On Saturday, June 14, the team was asked to attended a multiagency incident at Rogie Falls.
“17 team members along with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service, Police Scotland, coastguard and Rescue 151 attended.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the casualty at this time.”
Police earlier reported: “Around 1.45pm on Saturday, June 14, we were called to a report of a woman having fallen into water in the Rogie Falls area of Wester Ross.
“Emergency services attended however the 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
The area is popular with locals and visitors alike boasting a number of waymarked walks and some stunning scenery.
From the Rogie Falls car park, off the A835 Tore to Ullapool road, waymarked forestry walks allow visitors to explore the woods between the roadside and the bridge.
One trail leads straight to the bridge offering a look at the falls, while the longer Riverside Trail takes a more meandering route with viewpoints and a close-up look along the water’s edge.
Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team is run by volunteers and largely funded by donations from the public.
