BREAKING: Kessock Bridge closed again due to police incident with knock-on traffic chaos

A police incident has closed the Kessock Bridge for the second time within 24 hours.

UPDATE: Bridge reopens after six-hour closure

The major A9 link has been shut in both directions causing long tailbacks on either side of the Beauly Firth.

Traffic Scotland raised the alert at 4.08pm on its social media pages.

A witness said there were at least two emergency vehicles present on the bridge, with traffic "chaos" along Harbour Road and connecting routes.

Traffic Scotland has warned motorists to take care on approaching the area.
