Ullapool playground campers are being investigated for ‘traffic offences’
Police say they received several calls about “noise issues” and “general mess” after campers pitched up at an Ullapool children’s playpark.
It is understood some have been investigated for potential traffic offences.
Locals say they experienced “abusive and threatening behaviour” from the visitors, who have been staying in Morefield Playpark since Thursday (July 18).

Police have now confirmed they received “several” calls about the issue, particularly regarding mess and noise.
It is understood the DVLA have also been contacted in relation to potential traffic offences.
Local MSP and Ullapool resident, Maree Todd, shared the update she received from Police Scotland.
Chief Inspector Calum Smith told the MSP: “I can report that we have received several calls in respect of the encampment.
“Most of the calls relate to noise issues with a generator and general mess in the area. The site has been visited on a few occasions by police and there has been some engagement with the persons on site.”
It’s understood that Highland Council’s local antisocial behaviour officer with responsibility for traveller liaison has attended the site today and spoken with the occupants.
It’s believed the visitors have stated an intention to leave the site tomorrow.
She has also been told that an Ullapool officer have been tasked to attend the site tomorrow [July 20].
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of unauthorised vehicles in the Morefield Park area of Ullapool on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Suitable advice has been provided. Officers have liaised with the local authority.”
