PUPILS at a Black Isle primary got the opportunity to admire their handiwork when a sign they helped design was brought to their school before being installed.

Pupils in Avoch Primary School were invited to submit ideas for a Welcome to Avoch sign which was then created based on their ideas.

All of the design proposals are on display at nearby Fortrose Library.

Because of the location at the side of the road in the village, it was decided it would be too dangerous to have their children there at an unveiling event so it was brought to the school so pupils could see for themselves how their work had evolved.

The sign will be installed later with the help of local farmers who will prepare the area. That work will include moving a fence to accommodate the sign.

Mary Smyth of Avoch and Killen Community Council said she was delighted with the way project had progressed.

It was financially supported by Avoch Heritage Association and Broadland Properties Ltd.
