Highland 15-bedroom 1800s mansion hits market — for under £300,000
A 15-bedroom 1800s mansion in Wester Ross has hit the market — for less than £300,000.
Achnashellach Lodge, located between Strathcarron and Achnasheen on the A890, is a former guest house set within approximately 18 acres of woodland and waterfalls.
However, the property is in need of a full restoration, with a section of the lodge being in a non-habitable state.
The vast property features: fifteen bedrooms, seven bathrooms, seven utility rooms, a small ghillie room, a room with a safe and storage for rods, a cellar area for coal, two receptions, four large lounge rooms, a billiard room, a games room, a large kitchen, freezer and pantry room, a large dining room and a small dining room.
In the property listing, estate agents Future Property Auctions said: “The front section of the property is in reasonable order, however the rear is in a state of some disrepair and non-habitable condition.”
The agents went on to state that there is no home report for Achnashellach Lodge, due to the overall internal condition.
“A grand portico entrance leads to a series of spacious receptions and lounge rooms dating from the 1860s. The property retains many original features throughout.”
The lodge will be going up for auction online, on February 6 from 10am to 3pm.
