Alness floored by Wick Academy as Dingwall youngsters win in Moray
Dingwall under-18s bounced back from defeat against Balloan last weekend, to record their second win of the Highland League North campaign on Sunday.
The Ross youngsters notched an impressive 4-1 win away to Lossiemouth to move up to sixth place in the table.
After going a goal down to a Dylan Riddoch-Smith strike, a double from Ryan MacNamara turned the game in Dingwall’s favour.
Strikes from Tom Henderson and Fraser Ross then put the game beyond doubt for the Easter Ross side.
Wick Academy showed no mercy against Alness United at Dalmore Park in an entirely one-sided victory to retain pole position at the top of the Highland League.
Matthew Robertson and Jayden Bremner led the way with four goals apiece, while Owen Bain and George Ewing each bagged a brace.
Josh Sutherland, Joshua Hughes and Ben Durrand rounded off the scoring with an own goal from the Easter Ross side taking their overall tally to 16, without reply.
In Inverness, league champions Balloan kept their foot on the pedal with a 3-1 home win to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
Goals from Leo Lomba, Caleb Dowling and Frazer Barnie saw off the challenge of Inverness Athletic as the hosts took all three points in a head-to-head between the city-based sides on Sunday.
Oscar Beattie netted a consolation for Athletic late in the second half.
Also in Inverness, Clachnacuddin’s youngsters made short work of North West Skye in a 7-0 win.
The goals were spread widely throughout the team with Daniel Macdonald, Alex Heggie, Stewart Grant (brace), Charlie Taylor, Alfie Forsyth and Zaine Villa getting their name on the scoresheet.
In the other under-18 game of the afternoon, Buckie Thistle beat Rothes 5-1.
In the under-16 Highland section, Clachnacuddin and Alness United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
At Tain, St Duthus held the lead four times against Dingwall before the visitors hit three goals in the final seven minutes to win 6-4.
Elsewhere, Inverness Athletic were beaten 5-1 at home by table toppers Ross County, and Wick Academy put four past Fort William to take all the points.
