Cairns is northern light with inter-district championship win at Stirling
Anna Cairns continued to impress her reputation in Scottish athletics when she claimed victory in the inter-district championships in Stirling.
The Fortrose Academy pupil, representing the North team, claimed the under-15 championship when she crossed the line in 15 minutes and 22 seconds.
Older brother Lucas won team gold with Scotland in the Celtic Cross Country International under-17 race.
He played his part by finishing 12th overall in a time of 20:56.
Dingwall athlete Sean Chalmers made a dramatic recovery from the virus which kept him out of the previous weekend’s Scottish indoor 3000m championships to take sixth place overall in the men’s race in 26:28. Despite not being picked for the Scotland squad, the Fortrose Academy teacher finished ahead of two Scotland athletes.
Strathpeffer athlete Hamish Hickey finished outside the podium places in the under-23 race.

He finished in fourth place in the under-23 race and 19th overall in the men’s race with a time of 27:00.
However he was the third runner for the Scottish team which won the Celtic Nations under-23 team title.
Kirkhill athlete Mhairi Maclennan lead Scotland to second place in the Home Countries International behind England.
She finished in fourth place in a time on 29:47, 27 seconds behind race winner Kate Avery.
Tain athlete Constance Nankivell also won Celtic Nations team gold with the Scotland under-23 squad.
The University of Edinburgh student, who started her athletics career with East Sutherland Athletics Club, finished fourth in the under-23 race and 33rd overall.
Inverness teenager Megan Keith continued her meteoric rise in Scottish athletics winning the Home Countries Cross Country under-20 race.
The Millburn Academy pupil claimed victory in 26:14 beating her nearest competitor by 11 seconds.
