‘This is the most I have enjoyed my football’ - Yan Dhanda posts heartfelt farewell to Ross County fans after helping Staggies secure Premiership football
Yan Dhanda has signed off at Ross County with a heartfelt message to the club’s supporters.
It has been well-known for months that the 25-year-old was Hearts-bound at the end of the season, with his contract in Dingwall due to expire this summer.
The West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool academy product looked like a man on a mission as he tried to help the Staggies stay in the Premiership, scoring three goals in his last four appearances.
He would claim an assist on his farewell appearance too, swinging in the corner for Jordan White’s header that put County two goals ahead on the day against Raith Rovers in the play-off final second leg.
When Simon Murray essentially killed off the time with their third on the day, making it 5-1 on aggregate, Dhanda was substituted to a rousing ovation from Staggies fans.
Afterwards, with safety secured, Dhanda posted the following message on social media: “After an amazing two years at Ross County it’s time to move on.
“I want to thank everyone at the club for making me feel so welcome since the moment I arrived.
“This is the most I have enjoyed my football and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to improve as a player as well as a person.
“It was an honour to have the privilege to captain this club and that will stick with me forever.
“I would like to thank the managers, staff and players that I have worked with here as well as the chief executive and chairman. Your support has been so important to me over my time here.
“To the fans, thank you for your love and support for the past two years. Hearing you sing my name is something I have dreamt of since (I was) a young boy.
“This club is staying in the Premiership where it belongs. See you all again very soon.”
