Ross County interim manager Don Cowie insists Staggies will be ready to take on Aberdeen as bid to avoid a relegation play-off goes down to the final day
Ross County interim manager Don Cowie refused to be too critical of his players after a late St Johnstone goal denied them guaranteed Premiership football next season.
The Staggies had looked comfortable after Yan Dhanda gave them a first-half lead, only for Adama Sidibeh to head in an equaliser as the match went into stoppage time.
A point keeps the race to avoid a relegation play-off in County’s hands, but leaves them needing to beat Aberdeen on the final day this Sunday to ensure safety.
As far as Cowie was concerned, his team played well in Perth, and he is confident they will be ready to go again this weekend.
“The players are down and disappointed, but it’s my job to lift them and get the spirits high for playing Aberdeen,” he explained.
“I felt it was a good away performance, they dealt with the pressure well and I felt comfortable, so I’m not angry.

“We switched off ever so slightly and (Graham) Carey has a wonderful left foot. He put a ball in and it was a great header to be fair.
“The good thing is Sunday’s game comes quickly and we won’t have time to stew on it.
“We will recover and get ready to go against Aberdeen. They are in good form but apart from Motherwell at home we have been excellent at home.
“I said before the game we earned the right to have it in our own hands and we did that tonight.
“Right until the 90th minute I thought we’d done it, St Johnstone put a lot of attackers on the pitch and we switched off.”
