TOP drivers from across Scotland took part in the biggest motor sport event in the Highlands as the Snowman Rally raced into action on Saturday.
The penultimate round of the Scottish Rally Championship saw 74 drivers competing for the title racing through Inverness-shire and Ross-shire.
At the halfway point of the rally on Saturday, all the drivers drove through Dingwall High Street as hundreds of spectators had a chance to get a closer look at the cars which took part in the rally.
The rally started and finished at Muir of Ord Showground where Garry Pearson dominated the event from start to finish as he won the title for the first time in his career.
The Duns driver, along with co-driver Hannah McKillop in a Ford Fiesta Rally 2, claimed victory in a time of 39 minutes and 34 seconds.
He was 37 seconds ahead of John Wink of Huntly with co-driver Neil Shanks in second place who finished in 40:11 driving a Hyundai R20 i5.
Muir or Ord driver Scott Macbeth along with Elgin co-driver Daniel Forsyth in their Skoda Fabia 5 were third in 40:16.
The reasons behind the cancellation revealed that damage to the planned course through Inverness-shire and Ross-shire, along with negotiations between Motorsport UK and Forestry and Land Scotland not being finalised meant it would not be able to organise the event in time.
However, it was able to be rearranged for it to take place last weekend so it was part of the 2024 racing calendar.
The 2025 Snowman Rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 1.
