Ross County youngster Dylan Smith started for Scotland as they defeated Liechtenstein 4-0 in the under-19 European Championship qualifiers.

The 19-year-old, who is currently on loan at League One outfit Arbroath, played the first half in the victory at Cappielow in Greenock on Saturday.

Scotland took the lead after five minutes when Celtic B’s Colby Donovan’s long ball forward was latched onto by Sheffield United’s Ryan One, whose low cross was met, first time, at the back post by Ayr United player Alfie Bavidge.

Southampton’s Rory Macleod doubled Scotland’s advantage seven minutes before half time who connected with a cross from One to fire into the net.

Skipper Rudi Molotnikov from Hibernian lofted a fine ball into the box to find substitute Dylan Watret from Ayr United who scored with seven minutes left.

Bavidge, then got his second early into stoppage time.

The victory comes after Scotland lost 1-0 to Wales on Wednesday night.

Scotland are in third place in their qualification group. They play their final match of the qualifying group against France on Tuesday at Forthbank Stadium in Stirling.

Smith is a former Smithton Primary School and Culloden Academy pupil and turned professional at Ross County in 2022.

He has made 23 appearances for the club in the last two years and made his debut against Rangers at Ibrox as a substitute on August 27, 2022.

At the end of September, Smith went on loan to League One outfit Arbroath in a season long loan deal.
