He had previously spent time on loan at Bradford and Stevenage, and earned a call-up to the American under-23 squad.

However, he had only made two appearances in the League Cup for parent club Norwich, who have now confirmed that he will be leaving Carrow Road upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

Tomkinson is one of five players confirmed to be leaving the club at the end of the season, alongside goalkeepers Angus Gunn and Archie Mair, Onel Hernandez and Jacob Sorensen.

Norwich sporting director said in a club statement: “I know our supporters will join me in showing our appreciation to each of the players for their efforts and contributions to the club during our final fixture of the season this weekend against Cardiff City.

“We wish them the very best in the next steps of their respective careers. They will all be welcomed back at Carrow Road in the future.”
