After a quiet start to the game where both sides struggled to generate a clear sight of goal, it was the hosts who seemed to grow into it more at Rugby Park.

Former Staggie Daniel Armstrong went close with one effort just after the half-hour mark, before Armstrong turned provider for Bruce Anderson to head in from close range, breaking the deadlock 10 minutes before half time.

Liam Donnelly would then make it 2-0 to the Ayrshire club with around 20 minutes left to play, and County could not find a way back into the game.

With Dundee beating Hearts at Tynecastle thanks to a Simon Murray goal, the Staggies have slipped to 11th in the table ahead of their final four fixtures of the season.
