Ross County have moved out of the relegation zone as they picked up a massive victory as they defeated Motherwell at Fir Park.

Ronan Hale scored twice for the Staggies along with a Connor Randall strike as they picked up all three points which moved them into 10th place on 29 points.

They are now one point ahead of Dundee on 28 who lost 2-1 to Aberdeen. They have also gone eight points clear of bottom of the table St Johnstone as they lost 3-1 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

The victory has also put Ross County within two points of Kilmarnock in sixth place with seven matches before the split.

It is also Ross County’s fourth away win of the season with their 3-0 win at Dundee on Boxing Day their first win on the road in 481 days. They followed that up with wins at Kilmarnock and Aberdeen in January.

Ross County made two changes to the team which lost to 4-0 to Rangers earlier this month.

George Harmon and Ronan Hale was brought into the starting line up with George Robesten and Josh Nisbet dropped to the bench.

Ross County opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Lennon Miller’s challenge on Noah Chilvers saw the ball roll kindly for Hale and he fired past goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe to give them the lead.

The Staggies doubled their advantage just before the hour mark when Jonathan Tomkinson drove down the right wing and sent the ball into Chilvers.

He set up Hale who fired home from just inside the box for his eighth goal of the season to make it 2-0.

The Staggies killed the game off two minutes from time when Randall fired home a stunning strike.

Ross County have a golden opportunity to open up a four point gap with Dundee in 11th when the two teams meet in Dingwall next Saturday.
