Ross County see top six hopes in Scottish Premiership take a hit in defeat to Hearts in Edinburgh

Ross County’s hopes of reaching the top six in this season’s Scottish Premiership suffered a major blow as they lost 2-0 to Hearts.

Jordan Amissah made more eye-catching saves, but it was not enough to earn a result for Ross County at Tynecastle.

The Staggies went behind in the 16th minute when Elton Kabungu opened the scoring for the hosts at Tynecastle.

Goalkeeper Jordan Amissah was needed to produce some impressive saves to ensure the deficit did not increase, but in the end Hearts’ pressure told.

Jorge Grant would score a second goal to seal the points for the home side in the 88th minute, and County could not find a response before time ran out.

That defeat means County now sit four points off the top half with just three games left to play before the league splits for the final stage of the campaign.

However, Don Cowie’s side do remain seven points clear of the relegation play-off.
