Ross County complete signing of former Hearts and Dundee goalkeeper Jack Hamilton to challenge Ross Laidlaw for gloves in Dingwall

Ross County have bolstered their goalkeeping ranks with the addition of former Hearts, Dundee and Livingston goalkeeper Jack Hamilton on a one-year contract.

The 30-year-old is a former Scotland youth international, representing his country at every age group between under-15s and under-21s – also receiving a senior call-up in May 2016 for friendlies against France and Italy without featuring.

He made 63 appearances across all competitions for Hearts having broken into senior football at Tynecastle, also spending time on loan at Forfar Athletic, East Fife and Stenhousemuir.

Since then, Hamilton has made permanent moves to Dundee and Morton – where he had his most regular action since leaving the Jambos – and spent the last two seasons at Livingston.

Staggies manager Don Cowie commented: “I’m delighted to add Jack to our goalkeeping group. He is someone I know well having played alongside him at Hearts.

“Jack is an experienced goalkeeper as well as an excellent character who will be a great addition to the dressing room.”

Hamilton’s arrival follows the signing of defender Ricki Lamie, who has moved to Dingwall on a two-year contract, and the return of Will Nightingale on a season-long loan.
