Shoot-offs required as Highland Deephaven contest goes to the wire

HIGHLAND Deephaven Clay Pigeon Club held its club and colts 3x15 trophy and super vets trophy shoot on Sunday.

With the shoot divided into three separate competitions it was closely contested by 37 guns in favourable conditions.

In the first competition, Grant Macdougal (Strathpeffer), Gordon Duguid (Inverness) and Angus Cameron (Evanton) all tied on 15/45 with Duguid coming out on top after a shoot-off.

In the second competition Duguid and Cameron tied for top spot on 15/45, this time Cameron emerging triumphant.

In the third competition there was a five-way tie with Andrew Young (Tomatin), Sam Hunter (Lochinver), Maurice Fisher (Inverness), Gordon Duguid and David Alford (Black Isle) all hitting 15/45. After a close shoot-off it was Alford who came out on top.

Gordon Duguid won the overall prize with a perfect 45/135. Second was Angus Cameron on a 45/134 and third was David Alford on a 45/132.

The Colts Champion was David Hunter/Lochinver on 44/124 and the super vets competition, which is for a shooter over 70, was won by Maurice Fisher on 41/122.
