Ross County’s Australian international Josh Nisbet confident there is still more to come from his time in Dingwall after ‘okay’ debut season
Josh Nisbet still feels as though there is more to come as the finish line of his debut campaign with Ross County approaches on the horizon.
The 25-year-old Australian international could have experienced a degree of culture shock when he moved from his home country to the Scottish Highlands to sign for the Staggies last summer.
He has been a regular member of the County starting 11 throughout the year, making 31 appearances across all competitions and scoring three goals.
However, Nisbet still feels as though he is yet to show his best form in Dingwall, and he is adamant there are more levels for him to reach – particularly when it comes to goals and assists.
A slight tactical tweak to his role against Dundee United saw him push further up the park, and if that persists going forward he could be given more freedom to deliver more goal contributions.
“I know I can do better, I definitely still think there is room for better performances,” Nisbet said.

“Recently I’ve played a few more minutes that I was at one point, so I’m just aiming to do as well as I can.
“Hopefully more goals and assists will come with that, so my debut season has been okay but I can definitely do better.
“With the way Dundee United set up, I was able to push forward next to Noah Chilvers instead of being deeper next to Connor Randall, which means I can get closer to attacking areas.
“I had one chance where I could have done better to get a shot off, but I think that was the only chance I had so I need to make sure I’m in better positions and getting better touches.”
While Nisbet has had to adjust to the cold of a Scottish winter, things had been heating up for County on the pitch before last weekend’s defeat to Dundee United.
It was a rare below-par performance against a team outside of the Premiership’s top two in 2025, and the Staggies will be determined to make amends straight away at home against Aberdeen this Saturday.
“It was just one of those games where it doesn’t quite happen,” Nisbet said of the loss to Dundee United.
“The boys are disappointed for sure, but we also know we’re in a position where we need to grit our teeth and fight to keep pushing forward.
“At the end of the day we just need to get points, and the places will take care of themselves. We went into last Saturday looking to get three points, but we weren’t even nearly deserving of it.
“We go into every game with the intention of winning, so that’s how we’ll approach this Saturday.
“At home against Aberdeen they got a late equaliser, and then away we won in the snow. It has been mixed results against them so far, but we do usually do well at home so we can push for that.”
